    Hi Everyone,

I havent been posting for a while.

I would like to say all the best for 2024!

My concern is that the Framing does not adjust for Pocket/Cavity Sliding doors.

    I usually allow…width of door x 2 + 50mm (2″) for the Cavity frame work.

Would you be able to check this for me please. I have a small example I have uploaded.

    Cheers Everyone.

    Hi Alex,

Thanks for sending in your question and all the best to you and yours in 2024 as well.

Before I investigate this further, I want to be sure I understand what you are looking for. I am attaching an image of what a pocket door frame looks like, is this what you were expecting?

    Thanks Alex,

    G’day Alex!

    Long time no chat

But I can’t remember Envisioneer EVER framing around cavity sliders (aka pocket doors) correctly.

The opening in the wall frame is NEVER wide enough.

If there’s a trick to getting it like we build here in Oz, I’ve never been able to find it.

2D plan view showing opening should be just 1 stud from the wall intersection

    Hello Nick,

sorry I totally forgot about this post!

to have the pocket door frame as shown in your attached picture would be nice, but

all I was after was that the header abd Frame opening allow for the pocket frame as well as the door opening.

I was trying to figure out framing rules when I remembered this post.

I came up with the following…

I turned the framing mode on after I inserted a Garage door and a Pocket door, I cliked on the frame opening of the pocket door and adjusted

the king stud/Door stud over by the door width plus 50mm, eg.(820×2+50=1690 for opening)

I have made an opening in the FramingLibrary for a Pocket door, but I would have to manually change this on each door and each project.

Can this be adjusted  to suit each Pocket door Size?

I have been extensively working on Estimating & Framing, and this would make it that much more accurate.

(By the way in Framing, even though I do not use 2 top plates for the internal walls CS Envisioneer draws all the internal walls the

same Height as the External Load bearing walls, is there a fix for this)

    cheers.

    Hi Alex,

    Thanks for explanation.

There may not be a way to automatically adjust the pocket door framing for different sizes right away, but I’ll double-check.  Did you save your customized frame to the Head/Sill/Jamb library? That way, you can simply select it from the list when inserting a pocket door of that size.

Regarding the wall heights: in Framing mode, the wall height is controlled by the building locations for each level. If your internal walls need to be a different height from the external load-bearing walls, you can adjust them manually.
Select any interior wall>Right-click >Select all similar
Right-click again Under “Top Edge: Level,” change it from Building Locations to User Defined
    Then input the desired height
